CHICAGO, IL – Fox32chicago.com writes that a van hit a pole on Wednesday, December 26, 2018, and overturned injuring seven people on the Lower West Side.*
The collision took place at about 4 in the afternoon. Nine people, all adults, were in the van at the time of the crash. Reports indicate that the driver lost control of his vehicleand struck a pole on South Ashland Avenue.
The van toppled onto its side. The crash caused power lines to fall onto theroadway.
Three of the people in the vehicle sustained serious injuries. Two of the more severely injured people were transported to the Stroger Hospital while the third was taken to the Mt. Sinai Hospital.
Four others were also taken to the hospitaland were described as being in fair condition. Two were brought to Stroger, and the other two were taken to St. Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center. The remaining two vehicle occupants refused offers of medical attention.
The collision caused the closure of Ashland Avenue while the scene was investigated and cleared.
