Single-vehicle collisions are some of the deadliest crashes on the road. Most of these accidents are entirely avoidable. In 90 percent of single-vehicle crashes, drivers were traveling above the speed limit. Alcohol, distracted driving and other dangerous behaviors often factor into these crashes as well. While it is difficult to alter driver behaviors, there are steps that could be taken to make the roads safer. Keeping roadsides as free from fixed objects as possible or having barriers in place to protect drivers from leaving the road can help reduce the severity of manysingle-vehiclecollisions.
