GENEVA, IL- Patch.com writes that a collision on East State Street in Geneva led to two people suffering serious injuries. The collision happened on the morning of Saturday, December 22, 2018, at about 1:37 in the morning.*
The crash took place at the intersection ofEast State Street and Crissy Avenue. The driver of one of the vehicles was identified as a 28-year-old from Batavia who was operating a Mazda CS-X northbound on Crissy Avenue. The Mazda went through a stop sign and entered the intersection with East State Street.
A 22-year-old from Geneva was driving east in a Honda Accord on East State Street. When the Mazda entered the intersection, it crashed into the Honda.
The force of the crash pushed the Honda into thefront yard of a house where it struck bushes and a flight of cement stairs. The home does not seem to have sustained any structural damage in the crash.
The drivers were both transported to the Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital where they received treatment for their injuries.
According to police reports, alcohol, drugs or both, might have played a role in the crash. No one has been arrested at this time,but the crash is still being investigated.
Intersection accidents are common and often severe. When two roads meet, the chances of a collision are high, and there is a chance of severe T-bone crashes. When one vehicle strikes another vehicle’s side, the results for the people in the vehicle that is hit on its side are often severe. Vehicles offer more protection from collisions in which cars strike the front or back of a vehicle.
Better designed intersections could greatly reduce these types of crashes.
