ILLINOIS- The republictimes.net writes that a car crash that took place on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2018, at about 6:30 in the evening involved a Columbia Police Department vehicle. The police vehicle was a Ford Explorer driven by Steve Patton.*
The police vehicle was struck from behind bya2002 Toyota Sedan. The driver that rear-ended the police vehicle was identified as 38-year-old Daniel Haven who was traveling with two passengers, both of whom were juveniles.
Patton sustained minor injuries in the accident. The passengers traveling in Haven’s Toyota were both taken to Mercy South for treatment of injuries. Reports indicate that neither passenger suffered life-threatening injuries.
Haven received citations for “failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and no insurance.”
