INGLESIDE, IL- Patch.com writes that a man who was killed in a two-vehicle collision in Ingleside has now been identified. The victim, Feliciano Hernandez-Saucedo, 23, of Ingleside was killed last Saturday, December 15, 2018, in an accident that took place at about 12:10 a.m. A 72-year-old woman from Round Lake also sustained critical injuries in the crash.*
The two vehicles collided on Route 134 close to North Robin Road. Hernandez-Saucedo was driving a 2002 Acura TL westbound when he veered across the center line and struck an oncoming vehicle, a 2000 Buick Century. Hernandez-Saucedo died at the site of the collision. Reports from the investigation revealed that the victim did not have his seatbelt on at the time of the crash.
A 72-year-old man and the 72-year-old woman were in the Buick. Both were brought to the Advocate Condell Medical Center. The man, who had been operating the Buick, only sustained minor injuries, while the woman was in critical condition.
The crash is still being investigated.
Head-on collisions can happen very quickly as the result of a minor mistake. A driver who is not alert can drift over the center line on an undivided roadway with no warning to drivers traveling in the other direction. While most crashes can be avoided by cautious driving, even good drivers can be killed in head-on collisions where vehicles drive into their path without warning.
